Fixed ASUS USB-BT400 USB 2.0 Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter
After months of frustration with my 3 year old BT400 Bluetooth USB adapter (dongle), I finally found the fix.
The symptoms were that the Bluetooth driver appeared to install perfectly but the device was never being found in the Windows Playback Devices. This has been one of the most frustrating computer issues I have ever had, hence the reason I am posting here on my new blog. This was just yesterday. I hope you enjoy this! Please post a comment is this helped you.
I dual boot with Windows 10 so knew it had to be a driver issue. I called Asus tech support and they gave me the same November 2015 driver on their site: Driver version 11/17/2014 22.214.171.12400.
I tried to use Driver Booster a great program by the way, but that attempted to install the windows 8/10 driver that didn’t work either.
So I happened to come across this newer Broadcom WIDCOMM Bluetooth Driver 126.96.36.19930 for Vista/Windows 7 64-bit driver and after a quick reboot suddenly everything worked again. The sound is much improved and my whole computer is running much faster now! Yay.
You can download the updated and most wonderful Windows 7 / 64 bit driver here (clean driver from Softpedia):
